Alfred P. Gibbs was born in 1890 in Birmingham, England, and was raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. His twin brother, Edwin, led him to Christ. He served in World War I as a chaplain. In 1919, he left for Moody Bible School in Chicago. While there, he became involved with Rescue Mission, an assembly-operated organization as well as worked part time at Emmaus Bible School.
